The Friends of the Chiloquin Library (FOCL) was organized in March of 1980, as a group of volunteers whose primary function was to raise funds in support the library. One of their most recent contributions to the library was the colorful new rug for the Children's Library, pictured above.
The group remains very active and, in partnership with Chiloquin Visions in Progress , was a driving force in raising funds for the construction of the Chiloquin Community Center . The new Center, which opened in June of 2004, now houses the library, a gallery with workshops and classrooms, meeting rooms available for community needs, and offices providing social services.
FOCL has a number of ongoing activities including book sales, bake sales, production of an annual community calendar, an annual open house, and participation in community bazaars, parades, etc.
FOCL Meetings -- All are welcome!
The FOCL has also updated the Chiloquin History & Cookbook, the first edition of which was published and offered for sale in 1996. Both volumes contain a great deal of Chiloquin history as well as several delicious recipes contributed by local residents and their friends and families. Volume I sells for $6.00 and Volume II for $7.50; the set may be purchased for $12.00. Volume III is at the printer and we hope it will be available by the end of April. Check the Special Announcements page for notice of availability...
Copies may be purchased at the library or ordered by mail by sending your check for the cost of the volume(s) ordered plus shipping at $2.00 for the first book and $1.00 for each additional book, to FOCL, P.O. Box 666, Chiloquin, OR 97624.
